This is because some essential maintenance repairs are needed on the equipment. When that has been done the Parish Council will review re-opening in light of the then prevailing Covid guidelines.
We have taped off the equipment and put notices in place to protect you and others.
The Peggs Green Recreation Ground is located off Zion Hill, opposite The New Inn. It is an area of mostly grass, with a football pitch, and areas for walking and sitting. It has a play area for children under 8 and disabled access - see the pictures below.
The ground is owned by North West Leicestershire District Council and is maintained by Coleorton Parish Council. Regular maintenance involves mowing the grass regularly and managing the wooded areas. Members of the Parish Council regularly check the play equipment for any damage or faults. There is also a mandatory annual check by a qualified safety organisation. If you see any damage or other problems please contact the Parish Clerk: parishclerk@coleorton.org.uk.
There is a limited car-parking area off Zion Hill. The main car park area is owned by The New Inn opposite for use of their customers.
The Council is undertaking some tree and woodland management work on the Recreation Ground. This work, which is likely to start between Christmas and New Year and progress into January 2018, involves the thinning and felling of trees in the area behind the play area (between the recreation ground and California Cottage), some hazel coppicing in the area at the back of the recreation ground and some enrichment planting at the top end of the footpath which runs adjacent to Zion Hill.
Please take care and avoid areas where work is taking place.
A hole appeared a couple of years ago (in the wood to the side of the main recreation area) and has now been filled in, but please keep away from that area. The hole was likely caused by collapse of part of the Coleorton Railway tunnel.
