  • Beer, cider and sausage night on Saturday 23 March at the Charles Booth Centre in Thringstone. There will be live music from a variety of singers and musicians and your 10 ticket entry will give you a free first pint. The artisan beers are from Anstey Ales and Langton Brewery and the cider comes from Charnwood Cider. Sausages will come from Yorkshire through to South Africa.   • Griffydam History Group are hosting a Book Launch on Wednesday 27 March 7.00pm at Griffydam primary School, Top Road, Griffydam. Local historian and author Samuel T Stewart will talk about his latest book which tells the story of three brave local men, Samuel Dimmock and Samuel Hodges from Griffydam and John Howkins from Peggs Green, who were interned in the Imperial Japanese Army Prisoner of War camps. The story tells of their enlistment, overseas postings, POW capture, survival and eventual return to their home villages. Free admission. Copies of the book will be available for purchas.   • Manor House Surgery, Belton, PPG (Patient Participation Group) event "Looking after your heart" Wednesday 27 March 7.00pm at The Queens Head, Belton. Dr Gordon will be speaking along with John Dehnel (Heartwize/First Responder) who will provide an introduction to CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).   • Defibrillator Training Friday 29 March 1.00pm at The New Inn, Peggs Green. The Parish Council have arranged for a defibrillator to be installed on the wall outside The New Inn. In emergency the 999 team with talk you through the use of the defibrillator and it is designed to be used by non-medical people. However, it's always better to have some understanding of what you need to do. So a training session has been organised.   • Annual Litter Pick Saturday 30 March. Volunteers needed for an hour in the morning at various sites around the parish. Please put the date in your diary. Details >>
