  • The Festival of Archaeology begins on the 15 - 30 July. 80 events will be held across Leicestershire and Rutland celebrating the rich and fascinating archaeological heritage of the two counties. The programme is packed with family friendly activities, guided walks, talks, displays and have-a-go events.   • Open Garden in aid of Cancer Research UK Sunday 23 July 2pm - 6pm. Lyn & Len welcome you to their Open Garden in support of Cancer Research UK. We are at Fourcross Cottage, 5 Clay Lane, Coleorton, LE67 8JE. Entry is 5.00 and includes tea & cake. Plenty of free parking in the paddock next door.
  • Grace Dieu Priory Guided Walk Sunday 23 July. Walk through part of ancient Grace Dieu Wood, under the Charnwood Railway, along the Forest Line Canal and into the romantic ruins of Grace Dieu Priory, a 13th century nunnery. Learn about the area's long history along the way. 6pm - 8pm Fee 3 per person for the upkeep of the site. Meet in the car park of the Bull's Head, Thringstone, LE67 8LR.   • Heritage Open Days: Worthington Chapel Saturday 9 September. Worthington Chapel is opening its doors from 10am to 12 noon. There will be exhibits and related activities, including WWII memories and Poppy making. Tea and coffee will be available.
  • Coalville Colour Run Sunday 17 September at Coalville Park. 10K Fun Run starts at 10.30 am followed by enrertainment, live music, stalls. Entry: Adults 15, Age 5-16 7.50, under 5 Free, Family of 4 40, Team of 4 55. To find out more and to register >>
