We have a Facebook group!

Now, we are not the most technologically adept bunch of people so there may be some blips along the way but please do bear with us - we are learning as we go. It's possible there are some settings we have mis-set or perhaps are not even aware of so to all you Facebook gurus out there, we're happy to receive your thoughts.

Hopefully we have the setting to receive member requests switched on properly but again please do bear with us whilst we get off the starting blocks.

The community website will still be available; we see Facebook as a complementary medium and not a replacement, and in fact we are hoping to re-vamp the website at some point. Our wonderful webmaster Sandra Dillon is looking to retire soon, and we applaud her for the great work she has done over the years keeping the website current and sharing news with the community.

We look forward to being joined by many residents of our great community as members of the Facebook group.

Cllr.Ann Stafford

Web designer / support required

Sandra is looking to spend more time attending her garden and just maybe getting that book written! So, after thoroughly enjoying 12 years in the role, she is looking to pass on one of her regular tasks, developing and maintaining the Coleorton website. Hence the Coleorton Parish Council is looking for an experienced web developer to host and maintain its existing website and email services. The Council would also like to explore ways to develop the website further making it more interactive with a fresh new design, which will ultimately replace the existing website.

Coleorton Flowers

The flower boxes on the Coleorton village signs have been filled and are beginning to flower nicely. The Parish Council have arranged for a contractor to supply, manage and water the flower boxes and some are managed by local residents. Look forward to them blooming all summer long!

Daffodils on the A512 at Coleorton

We all love the sight of the daffodils on the A512 in January (see photos >> ). It cheers us up in the dark months and reminds us spring is on the way. There are lovely displays on Beaumont Green in March too.

Let's have more!

The Parish Councillors are setting up a working party to plant more bulbs around the parish. They are looking for volunteers to do the planting - probably October time - and for suggestions for locations. If you are interested contact Cllr. Ann Stafford on

New opening times for Coleorton Wood

Coleorton Parish Council has agreed to a trial period of longer opening hours at Coleorton Wood. We have been approached by local residents who would appreciate the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful amenity later on Spring and Summer evenings. This decision has been taken following consultation with local residents living on the approach road to Coleorton Wood (Pitt Lane) who will obviously see an increase in traffic - so please show consideration for them at all times. The trial will run from 1st July until 30th September 2020.

Currently the car park is open from 8.30 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.
During the trial period it will be open from 8.00 a.m. until 8.00 p.m.

About Coleorton Parish

Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment.

If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email

Local businesses and services

Coleorton residents are an enterprising bunch: the latest Coleorton businesses listed in the local services directory include IT specialists, photographers and dog walkers. Email if you would like your local business listed (free of charge for Coleorton-based businesses or owners).
