Free trees Free Trees!

The popular Free Tree Scheme is back again for its 11th year. The scheme has already seen thousands of trees planted across the district and North West Leicestershire District Council is once again teaming up with The National Forest Company to make our district even greener.

There are four trees to choose from: Dogwood, Field Maple, Holly, Hazel. if you are planting or re-planting a hedge there is the "Hedge Fund" with up to 30 metres of Hawthorn and Hazel mix with a Field Maple every 10 metres.

You can order online at: from 30 September to 25 October 2019. Trees will be available for collection from Council office carpark in Coalville on Sunday 17 November 2019.

Calling all musicians and vocalists!!!

If you can play an instrument or can sing and want to participate in local events in Coleorton and surrounding area. I would love to hear from you. I have been playing for many years in a band from another area and would love to co-ordinate a group or groups of musicians (varying abilities, children welcome), that can come together to play at local events - the first one could be a small Xmas event being planned in Coleorton.

I welcome existing musical groups or individuals who will play with others of similar ability put together, and certainly for a Christmas event could play carols and other Christmas music. This might even develop into a dedicated Coleorton Band??!!

Please reply to by Friday the 11th of October.

I look forward to hearing from you !!

coleorton parishParish Boundary

You may find it quite odd that The Woolrooms is not actually in Coleorton Parish, but Worthington, and so is the area of Lower Moor Road between brook in the dip and Rempstone Road. The current boundary is the result of changes made over several centuries for reasons long forgotten and quite irrelevant now. Some locals feel it's time to take another look so a petition has been raised to support a request for a change. Read more about proposed changes >>. The petition is available at Coleorton Post Office. You can also email comments to Andrew Hogsden Clerk to the Council at

About Coleorton Parish

Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment.

If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email
