"Coleorton Christmas on The Green" Sunday 8 December

Santa came to visit Coleorton on 8th December for "Christmas on the Green", a community event sponsored by Coleorton Parish Council. Several hundred residents attended and enjoyed mulled wine, mince pies and entertainment from a band of local musicians, Roots singers and the choir from Viscount Beaumont School. A large Christmas tree had been donated which was formally switched on during the event, and a wooden building was loaned to the event by a local company for Santa's grotto. Donations were raised in support of a very local charity - the Robbie Anderson Cancer Trust - and totalled an amazing 837.91. The Parish Council would like to thank all those who helped and donated to make this a massive success!

What a wonderful event!

Well done parish councillors Ann Stafford and Rich Hughes who organised the event and to all their many helpers.

30mphPetition to arrange a Speedwatch

Despite the installation of mobile warning signs that were erected in 2011 following earlier Speedwatch campaigns, speeding through the village remains a major concern. The volume of traffic appears to have increased which only makes the matter more dangerous.

The Parish Council have opened a petition to gain enough support to request a Speedwatch from the County Council. This is available at the Post Office. Alternatively, download petition form, collect signatures and return to Parish Clerk.

coleorton parishParish Boundary

You may find it quite odd that The Woolrooms is not actually in Coleorton Parish, but Worthington, and so is the area of Lower Moor Road between brook in the dip and Rempstone Road. The current boundary is the result of changes made over several centuries for reasons long forgotten and quite irrelevant now. Some locals feel it's time to take another look so a petition has been raised to support a request for a change. Read more about proposed changes >>. The petition is available at Coleorton Post Office. You can also email comments to Andrew Hogsden Clerk to the Council at

About Coleorton Parish

Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment.

If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email
