Flower Box at Peggs GreenFlower Boxes for the Summer

Last year the parish council arranged for 13 window-box-style flower troughs to be installed, planted up and maintained during the summer. And very good they looked too.

Generally people were please with them, but it is expensive to outsource this task. It was suggested at the January parish council meeting that some parishioners might be willing to look after a flower box during the summer. This would involve planting them up, watering and weeding regularly and generally keeping them tidy. The parish council would provide the boxes and supply the plants.

If you are interested in doing this for one or more planters (located on the Coleorton Parish signs) please email the Parish Clerk. Based on the responses received the council will consider what action to take at the March meeting.

Defibrillator installed at The New Inn

The Parish Council have installed a defibrillator at The New Inn, Peggs Green. This is in addition to the one at The Post Office on Lower Moor Road.

These units are for public use. If you or someone with you suffers a possible heart incident or cardiac arrest, dial 999 immediately. You will then be directed to the nearest yellow defibrillator cabinet and if appropriate, given the access code of the cabinet and given instructions on how to use it.

Although the Emergency Services will assist on the phone and the defibrillator is designed to lead you through the procedure the Parish council will be running a training course. If you are interested please email the Parish Clerk

About Coleorton Parish

Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment.

If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email webmaster@coleorton.org.uk.

Local businesses and services

Coleorton residents are an enterprising bunch: the latest Coleorton businesses listed in the local services directory include IT specialists, photographers and dog walkers. Email webmaster@coleorton.org.uk if you would like your local business listed (free of charge for Coleorton-based businesses or owners).
