Volunteer Group Plant Sales

The group raised 701.22 from the 2 plant sales in May despite the rain on both days. This was a very good result - thanks to all the people who supported us. Proceeds will help fund our conservation work around the parish. About the group >>.

Launch of New Lount Mining Heritage TrailLaunch of New Lount Mining Heritage Trail

The New Lount Mining Heritage Trail was launched on Saturday 13th May.
There was a good crowd at New Lount Nature Reserve to celebrate the launch which was formally opened by Charlie Beresford who spent most of his working life at the mine. New Lount was a working deep mine between 1924 and 1968 employing many Coleorton residents. More about the Trail Launch and New Lount Nature Reserve >>

Next Saturday 20 May the Coleorton & New Lount Volunteer Group (who did much of the work creating the Trail) are holding a Plant Sale at New Lount to raise funds to continue their work. Go along and stock up your garden for the summer! More about the plant sale and the Volunteer Group >>

About Coleorton Parish

Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment.

If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email

Local businesses and services

Coleorton residents are an enterprising bunch: the latest Coleorton businesses listed in the local services directory include IT specialists, photographers and dog walkers. Email if you would like your local business listed (free of charge for Coleorton-based businesses or owners).
