Cleaning grafitti from the bus shelter

While the roadworks have caused us all some disruption Eurovia Contracting have provided Coleorton with some help with projects around the parish. They made some of their equipment and manpower available to help clean the grafitti from the bus shelter on the Ashby Road and cleaned the play surface at the Peggs Green Rec. with their mobile jet washer. Thank you.

Coleorton "Snapshot in Time" Project

Coleorton Heritage Group is a group of local people of all ages who are interested in the history of the local area and families. The group aims to research, preserve where possible and to document the local heritage and to make the findings accessible by publishing in various formats - books, pamphlets and on the website.

Thanks to the many photos of people and buildings taken during the last 150 years we have some idea of what life was like in previous generations. But in another 50 years the people living here then might find it hard to imagine what the Coleorton of today looked like unless we continue to take photos of and document them.

We have started a project to create a "Snapshot in Time" of the village today by taking a photograph of every house / site as it is now and we would be delighted if you would be prepared to take part in this initiative. What we would like you to do is to take a photo (digital or hard copy) of your property and either email photos to the Heritage Group at or put the actual hard copy photo into a box the Post Office in Lower Moor Road. Please include a note to identify the property and if you have any particular memories to share, or snippets of information about your house or locality, please include that.

About Coleorton Parish

Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment.

If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email

Local businesses and services

Coleorton residents are an enterprising bunch: the latest Coleorton businesses listed in the local services directory include IT specialists, photographers and dog walkers. Email if you would like your local business listed (free of charge for Coleorton-based businesses or owners).
